Chelsea Roper, from Queenstown, New Zealand, began her building journey six years and became a qualified carpenter in November 2022.
Chelsea has worked her way in the male dominated field and become her own boss, with up to four apprentices working under her.

She said: “At the moment, we have three new builds on the go, and I can have anywhere between three or four apprentices under me.
“Most of the time they’ll either be completely fresh or in the second or third year.”

Her work ranges from new builds to renovations and she even completed a massive church relocation over the years.
The female pro has even taken home two awards in the field, including the Narwick Apprentice of the Year award, and took part in the National Apprentice of the Year competition.

She said: “I also started working on my own jobs.
“This was my first build that I got to run. I had a couple of apprentices under me, one of them being incredibly green.
“I managed to get it done, which was great.
“Then I became qualified, and now I’m running my own jobs full time”
