A chaotic Sunday night in North Texas knocked out power to thousands as severe thunderstorms swept through the region, bringing 80 mph winds that toppled trees and downed power lines.

Resident, Gheorghina Gruia, captured the beginning of the storm as the forthcoming week is forecasted to bring heavy rain and heightened flood risks across much of Texas.

The severe weather threat isn’t limited to the Lone Star State, with storm systems also impacting areas from Louisiana all the way to New York as of yesterday.
