Watch the moment a humpback whale almost takes out a kayak while feeding on krill. The whale can be seen coming within inches of the kayak as it breaches the surface of the water. This moment was captured on camera by Emma Ward while guiding a tour with Kaikōura Kayaks. The drama unfolded in waters off the coast of Kaikōura, New Zealand. Emma said: “The whole encounter was amazing and definitely one I won’t forget! “The whale came right under our kayak, surfaced just beside us while scooping up a big mouthful of krill, and its tail sliced through the water. “I couldn’t believe I was seeing a Humpback Lunge feed in real life, I had to video so I could relive the moment! “I have never seen a humpback lunge feed, and especially not that close under my kayak.”
