Over 4 in 5 adults in the UK say they have had a collection in their lifetime, but what is the point?
Collecting items is a common hobby and can range from keeping unique stamps to having a classic cars collection.
One extraordinary example of this passion for collecting is Grace Caroline, from Richmond, Virginia, US, who has spent over a decade amassing her incredible Pokémon collection up to $53.000.

Grace’s collection stands out not only for its value but also for its uniqueness. Her collection includes everything from plushies, food wrappers and even two special edition cars!
Among her prized possessions is a rare one-of-a-kind Pokémon Center New York clock, which can sell for more than $6,000 (£4,750) second hand.
She said: “I own one of the ten Pikachu VW Beetles which was used for promotional reasons back in the late 90s!”

The Evolution of Pokémon Cards:
Originally designed to play the Pokémon game, Pokémon cards have evolved over the years and many collectors now focus on trading and collecting them as valuable items.
One of the largest collection of Pokémon cards is 48,339 and was achieved by brothers Owen and Conner Gray from Harlow, Essex, UK.

The extremity of trading reached a new high when YouTube influencer Logan Paul purchased one of the most famous cards in the Pokémon Universe in 2022 for $5.275 million.
The PSA 10 Illustrator Pikachu is known for its rarity and holds its place as the most expensive Pokémon card ever sold.
Logan Paul paid $4 million and traded off a PSA 9 Illustrator Pikachu he previously owned for the card.

By having a collection it can provide individuals with a sense of identity, community, communication and sometimes offers financial gain.
The world of collections showcases individuals’ love, connection and nostalgia and remains a cherished activity for many.
