Samantha, from West Jordan, Utah, USA, recalled: “I was hit by a snowmobile. I was on a tube with my son and going down the hill, this man decided to go up the hill that was for tubers.

“We were coming down and he hit me head-on and completely shattered me.

It broke my jaw, and my nose does not move – this was all completely smushed.”

The horrific accident that saw Samantha being hit by a man driving a snowmobile left her needing serious facial reconstruction to her face in an attempt to look like her former self.

After the incident, Samantha was immediately placed on life support with serious doubts lingering if she would survive the accident.

After beating all odds to survive, it felt as if Samantha was tasked with learning how to walk again while also undergoing nine surgical procedures.

She was forced to have 18 plates inserted into her face which will help keep fractured bones in place.

In addition to this, Samantha needed a tracheostomy procedure to help her breathe properly.

The surgery involved creating an opening in the windpipe from outside the neck to enable oxygen to reach the lungs.

She explained: “I was life-flighted, and I was on life support.

“They didn’t think I was going to make it.

“I had to teach myself how to walk again and I’ve had to go through nine surgeries so far and I still have more.

“I broke my back, fractured my neck and I broke both my wrists and had to have surgery on them both. I don’t have vision in my eye.”

Following the accident, she was also left with a broken back, a fractured neck and paralysis in her legs and hands.

Samantha claimed that the man who hit her was under the influence of alcohol.

She added: “Yes, I am alive, but I can’t even lift my babies.

“If I lift more than a couple of pounds my legs will give out because I have paralysis in my right leg and paralysis in my face.

“I have paralysis in my hand, so it’s not easy for me and my family.”
