With McDonald’s famous McRib sandwich making its long- awaited return, fast food lovers are buzzing once again.
But for one superfan, Zach Zona, the staple fast food chain is more than just a tasty meal- it’s a chance to break speed eating records!
Zach managed to devour a McDonald’s hamburger in a staggering 5 seconds, launching him into the world of speed eating.

McDonald’s iconic hamburgers don’t seem to last long for Zach and the hype around the return of another classic sandwich is rising.
The McRib is returning from October 16, nearly 10 years after the fan- favourite was removed from menus.
The loss of the iconic pork sandwich in 2005 broke hearts across the world, except for Germany and Luxembourg who were the lucky ones able to hold onto the sandwich permanently.
However, nothing seems to beat the classic hamburger, as for Zach his impressive skills of wolfing down a McDonald’s hamburger led to an interest in the world of competitive eating.

Although he was not immediately attracted to the idea of competitive eating, Zach’s natural skills to rapidly finish the hamburger surprised himself.
Zach said: “It was like 5 seconds on the dot honestly and to be honest I think the last record was roughly 8 seconds.
“I shouldn’t say it was easy because swallowing a burger basically whole without chewing is nothing even close to easy.”

After a video of him eating went viral on his Instagram, he has released a steady stream of eating challenges.
From eating 15 McDonalds hamburgers to demolishing three quarter pounders in under 60 seconds, Zach has started to take eating challenges seriously.
He added: “I posted a video of me eating food, pretending to be angry while I was eating, and it did pretty good so then I said ‘hey, why not see what happens if I make another’.
“So, I kept making videos eating disgusting combinations of food with sauces, and that started doing well.”
All this practice put him in good stead to take on his most ambitious challenge yet and for a shot at the word record.

Zach certainly gave this record everything he had and wants to cut his time down even further!
He added: “I would compare this as the easiest speed eating challenge out of all of them I have done.
“But I would love to get it down to 4 seconds and I definitely think that would be a hard time to beat.”
Zach’s competitive speed eating dreams have grown as he hopes to be a full time competitive eater and train to do competitions all around the United States and Europe.
In the future, Zach would love to collaborate with his favourite people on social media in the eating world and keep on rising.
