Unlucky in love Lily Willard fell head over heels after meeting her dream guy on the other side of the world – even though he grew up and lived near to her in the UK.

Solo traveller Lily had turned her back on romance after a string of failed relationships and decided to hit the backpack trail when she met Taylor Wynne on a boat in Thailand.

Amazingly, the pair met up while both 6,000 miles away from home – when Taylor only lived an hour away from Lily in the UK.

Lily said: “It was definitely written in the stars. Living so close together in the UK and not meeting – but bumping into each other on the other side of the world – meant we were meant to be.”

Lily from Kent, UK, had been saving up to go on a tour around Asia as it was always her dream to travel to that part of the globe.

She was so dedicated that she decided to quit her job and fully commit to travelling full time which began with a three week trip to Thailand with her sister.

But after those three weeks, she was left alone where she continued to backpack around Southeast Asia for 75 days.

However, in her third month of travel she met Taylor, from Harrow, UK, on a two day boat ride from Thailand to Laos as he was on a long holiday.

After exchanging hellos, the pair quickly became good friends and Lily even joined him and his friends for the rest of their trip.

They spent every day together doing various activities such as spa trips and hikes and slowly their friendship turned into something more.

By the time it got to the end of Taylor’s trip, the couple didn’t want to separate so they made the huge leap to move to Australia together where they have been for the past four months.

Lily said: “This is one of those unexpected moments in life and I think it just show you that love is literally right around the corner when you least expect it.

“I can’t believe I made a whole plan to travel Asia alone and it ended with me living Australia with the love of my life.

“Everyone back home can’t believe it, they say it’s something out of a movie because it’s just such a unique way to fall in love with someone.”
