A massive dust storm hit New Mexico , reducing visibility to nearly zero and bringing winds up to 45 mph.
The dust storm hit on March 3 and Highway 285 was closed between Roswell and Artesia due to dangerous conditions, while multiple accidents occurred across the region.
Fire Chief Justin Powell, who captured this terrifying footage, said: “If you do not need to be driving, please do not do so. Stay put!”
Authorities urged drivers to stay off the roads, with ambulances overwhelmed by the number of crash victims.
The National Weather Service issued advisories for high winds and blowing dust in New Mexico and Texas.
