Heavy rainfall in Gran Canaria caused water levels to rise rapidly, flooding entire neighbourhoods with mud and debris.

Tourist Lily Ash captured this shocking footage of a car being swept out to sea, following the closure of seven beaches in Telde, Gran Canaria.

The national weather agency issued a red alert, warning that the storm would continue through the week.
