In a heartwarming moment that has captured the internet’s attention, little Adeline was celebrated by hospital staff on her birthday in a sweet surprise.
The young girl, whose family has spent much of their time at the hospital due to her brother Bodie’s health struggles, was serenaded by nurses and handed flowers as part of a surprise birthday celebration.
Adeline’s mother, Celeste Thompson from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, shared the touching moment online, where it quickly went viral.
Celeste explained how, despite the family’s challenging circumstances, they wanted to make Adeline’s birthday special while staying close to Bodie, who has spent more than 130 days in the hospital due to serious heart and lung conditions.
On her birthday, Adeline was dressed in a beautiful birthday dress and walked through the hospital hallway, where she was greeted by staff who had become like family to her.
The nurses sang “Happy Birthday” to Adeline and handed her roses, making the day extra special.
This will forever be a core memory for me,” Celeste said, as the sweet celebration touched her heart.
Celeste told how their time at the hospital has become so permanent due to living three and a half hours away and sometimes having to travel to another unit nine hours away.
But, when it came to her birthday, mum and dad wanted to make it a special day, whilst of course making sure they were close to Bodie.
She was more than happy with the gesture, and even more happy to be able to visit her brother at the end of the hall.
