A 5.2 magnitude earthquake shook San Diego and surrounding California areas, with the epicenter near the mountain town of Julian.

San Diego Resident, Melinda-Rose Valencia, captured this terrifying footage on her home cameras of the moment the earthquake shook her home in the Scripps Ranch area.

She said: “When the earthquake hit, it was pure chaos for a few seconds. My husband jumped up smiling like it was an amusement park ride.

“My cat was buffering. I panicked—but not before grabbing my coffee (priorities).

“My poor baby got startled awake. And my dog? Stuck to me like Velcro, waiting for instructions.”

Residents as far as Los Angeles received emergency alerts urging them to take shelter just before the quake hit on the morning of 14 April.

So far, no injuries or major structural damage have been reported, though officials say it remains a developing situation.
