A swarm of earthquakes rattled West Texas, with three tremors striking in just three hours, the strongest reaching a magnitude of 3.6.

These quakes followed a powerful 5.4 magnitude earthquake on Sunday night, felt up to 200 miles away.

Experts believe the recent activity is likely linked to fracking-related wastewater disposal, which has been tied to increased seismic events in the region.

Though no damage or injuries have been reported, over 1,500 people felt the initial quake.

Scientists warn that continued drilling and deep wastewater injection could lead to more – and possibly stronger – earthquakes in the future.
