The UK is marking the 80th anniversary of VE Day with four days of nationwide commemorations, culminating in a service of thanksgiving, a two-minute silence, and a major concert attended by the King and Queen.
Westminster Abbey hosted a remembrance service for over 1,000 attendees, including WWII veterans and the Royal Family.
Celebrations have included street parties, a military flypast with the Red Arrows, and the Royals appearing on the Buckingham Palace balcony.
Art and light displays, such as the 30,000 poppies at the Tower of London and landmark buildings illuminated in red, white, and blue, added to the commemorative atmosphere.
Across the country, local events and exhibitions honoured the generation that fought in WWII while encouraging reflection on the cost of peace.
