A woman has revealed how her life has been turned around after being diagnosed with vocal cord paralysis.

Poppy Beech has spent over a decade searching for ways to restore her voice, only to learn that she has permanently lost it.

She said: “Day-to-day being paralysed affects me very little; everyone around me is just used to me sounding like this, and it’s what makes me different.

“I have a paralysed vocal cord, and I’ve started documenting my journey through videos and capturing my voice in case I completely lose it.”

Residing in Leicestershire, UK, Poppy has used her platform to document her experiences with vocal cord paralysis.

She explained her condition by explaining how the right side of her vocal cord is paralysed, causing it to sound different and get tired quickly.

Despite trying various treatments, she admits there is no easy fix. From speech therapy to medical consultations, every step has been an uphill battle.

She is going through various methods to try and improve her vocal cords, and she admits there isn’t a simple solution to fixing her voice issues.

Meeting new people often means explaining why her voice sounds different, and she has encountered misunderstandings from those unaware of her condition.

However, she remains positive and embraces the uniqueness of her voice.

Posting regularly, Poppy hopes her content will resonate with viewers who are going through similar things.

She shares both the difficulties and triumphs of living with vocal cord paralysis, proving that a medical diagnosis doesn’t have to define one’s life.
