The childhood home of newly elected Pope Leo is up for sale, with the price soaring after its connection was revealed.
Pawel Radzik, owner and property flipper, had initially listed the 1,200-square-foot house in Dolton, Illinois for $200,000 but is now considering turning it into a museum or historic landmark.
The house, which was once home to the Pope’s family in the late 1940s, had a turbulent history after being sold, including a stint as a drug house.
Radzik, who purchased it last year and renovated it, is now receiving offers and plans to capitalise on its newfound value.
Locals are hopeful the property’s new significance will bring positive change to the neighbourhood, with some even hoping it becomes a community landmark.
