A 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Crete earlier today, prompting Greek authorities to issue an urgent tsunami warning.

Residents and tourists were told to move away from the coast immediately amid fears of incoming waves.

The quake struck around 2 a.m. local time and was centred 10 miles south of Fry, with tremors felt across the island.

No injuries or major damage were initially reported, but emergency alerts remain in effect.

The region had recently been rocked by undersea quakes, raising concern over ongoing seismic activity.
