The San Diego Police department released this statement: San Diego Police and Fire-Rescue Respond to Plane Crash in Tierrasanta.
The National Transportation Safety Bureau (NTSB) and supporting federal agencies will be leading the investigation of this incident. San Diego Fire-Rescue and San Diego Police Departments responded to reports of a Cessna 550, which had crashed into a house on the 3100 block of Salmon Road.
Both agencies rapidly responded, extinguishing multiple fires and assisting residents with evacuations. Following the response, both agencies actively swept homes in the area for additional potential victims and worked to mitigate any remaining hazards.
Per the Federal Aviation Administration, six passengers were confirmed to be on board. At this time, there have been two confirmed fatalities who appear to have been in the aircraft, though the exact number of deceased is still being determined.
Two people were treated for minor injuries and released at the scene, and six more individuals received medical attention. All eight of those individuals were not from the aircraft.
Area evacuations are still in effect.
Our hearts and thoughts go out to all the families affected by this tragedy, and we stand with the community during their time of need.
We also extend our immense gratitude to all local, state, and two federal agencies who have played an active role in responding and supporting those affected by this incident.
