At least seven people have died as thunderstorms and tornadoes ravaged several US states, with more severe weather expected.

Fatalities were reported in Tennessee, Indiana, and Missouri as the storms hit on Wednesday and Thursday.

Thousands have been left without power, and homes have been destroyed.

Over 90 million people are at risk, with 1.3 million near the Mississippi River warned of “once in a lifetime” rainfall.

The destruction in Arkansas includes debris launched nearly five miles into the air, and further damage is expected in parts of Arkansas, Tennessee, and Kentucky.
