Mars may not seem like the ideal holiday destination, but new research suggests it once had sandy beaches.

Scientists have uncovered evidence of an ancient ocean on the Red Planet, with foreshore deposits resembling Earth’s coastal beaches.

The findings indicate that Mars was once much wetter, offering a more habitable environment.

This amazing footage is a scientific space station set developed to simulate hostile living conditions on Mars, created by Spain’s interplanetary agency, Astroland.

The programme allows daredevils to have the opportunity to experience the living conditions almost identical to the ones in Mars – and hopefully enjoy the beaches soon!
