A Florida diver captured the moment a shark rushed toward him after he began splashing on the surface – a move he made deliberately to show how such behaviour can trigger a shark’s curiosity.

Lance Marxen, who filmed the close encounter, says he uses lemon sharks for these demonstrations because they’re more intelligent and less dangerous than species like bulls or tigers.

In the video, the shark gets alarmingly close before Lance calmly redirects it with a touch to the nose.

He hopes the footage educates others on how easily sharks can be drawn in and how to safely defuse such situations.
