Florida is currently experiencing its worst drought in 24 years, with nearly 84% of the state affected by dry conditions, including extreme drought in much of Central and Southwest Florida.

The drought, combined with high heat and a lack of rainfall, has led to poor air quality, increased respiratory issues, and a heightened risk of wildfires, with over 1,600 fires burning nearly 75,000 acres since January.

Experts warn that dust, pollen, and pollutants exacerbated by the drought are worsening asthma and cardiovascular problems.

While forecasts show some rain in the coming days, it’s unlikely to end the long-term drought, which has already left Florida’s landmass much drier than usual.
