In a heartwarming celebration of love, laughter and 50 years of marriage, this husband decided to surprise his wife with a vow renewal for their anniversary.
Jennifer Moody from Devon, UK, was left speechless after being surprised by her husband, John, who organised it with the help of their daughter, Nic.
The golden couple, who first tied the knot five decades ago, had the plan to head off for a simple anniversary photoshoot, but Jennifer was left gobsmacked when she arrived to find her nearest and dearest waiting in silence – each holding a single yellow rose.
The moving ceremony was officiated by Claire Austin, who was brought in to help orchestrate the unforgettable moment.
She said: “It was the most incredible surprise. There wasn’t a dry eye on the Downs!
“It was organised by the couple’s daughter, Nic, with just a week to plan it all.
“I secretly met with Nic and her dad to gather stories and memories, and from that, I wrote their bespoke script for the ceremony to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.”
Retelling the events, Claire explained that the surprise was performed at the Babbacombe Downs Observation Deck.
The ceremony included heartfelt readings, a symbolic rose ritual, and a touching toast to the enduring love between John and Jennifer.
Following the emotional ceremony, the group headed to the local pub to raise a glass to the couple – before continuing the celebrations back at the Moody family home.
Claire said: “Nic’s mum was lured to The Downs on the pretence of a wedding anniversary photoshoot but was shocked to see all of her close family and friends standing there with a yellow rose in their hand as they awaited them for their Vow Renewal Ceremony.
“Happy memories and their love story were shared, with a rose ceremony performed and a toast to the special couple.
“We then went to the pub for a drink together afterwards and I was invited to their home afterwards for chicken fajitas and more bubbles!”
