Kyoko Canizales, 32, a psychologist, from La Verne, California, USA, was one of the thousands of people affected by the heartbreaking wildfires that hit Los Angeles.
The wildfires began on the 8th January 2025 and rapidly spread through the areas of the Pacific Palisades, Malibu and Altadena.
Kyoko drove through the streets of LA and captured the shocking effects of the fires and the destruction it had caused on the communities of Altadena and Pasadena.
Kyoko and her mother Kimberly Harris, 59, visited their home in the hopes of finding it still standing but instead discovered that it had burnt down to the ground.
Their home in Pasadena was bought by Kyoko’s grandmother in the 1970s and had been passed down through three generations of their family.
Left in shock, Kyoko captured the remains of her home and shared the devastation it has caused for families like herself on her TikTok channel, also known as @girlwhoprays.
