This racing driver told how her motoring-obsessed family have devoted their lives to motorsport and how they all race for the same team.
Atlanta Humphrey, who was inspired by her father and grandfather, has now inspired her son to get into the sport.
Named ‘Team Amis’, in honour of her grandfather, who started their motorsport journey, four generations of the Amis family have raced for the team, and there’s no signs of stopping in banger and stock racing.

Atlanta, from Norfolk, UK, said: “It takes a lot of time to be a racing family, we don’t really notice the time it takes because it’s the normal for us.
“If we’re not racing, we’re in the garage having a Budweiser working on the cars. It’s all we’ve ever known.
“It’s true when you hear, racing is more of a lifestyle than a hobby.
“We have all raced together a couple times on the track, now you would think because we’re family we would try ‘helping each other’ win or throughout the race.
“However with us, it’s not the case, we actually are worse and more competitive with each other because we’re so competitive that we end up racing even harder when we see one of us in front of beside us.”

She added: “All our money goes on racing! Although we do have sponsors that we are super grateful for!
“People are often surprised to hear that I race or go racing.
“I often forget that other people aren’t in the racing scene, or even go racing, as it’s something I’ve been around all my life and is completely normal to me.”

Atlanta’s grandfather, Henry Amis, first got the family hooked on motorsport after he started racing for fun in his youth, eventually winning lots of races.
That love for racing was passed down to Atlanta’s father who still races with the family to this day, bringing home plenty of trophies and winning countless races.
Atlanta’s mum also found a love for the sport and occasionally jumped onto the track with the family.
Much like her dad, Atlanta and her two sisters, Jarron and Kianna, soon got themselves involved in the racing scene – all of which have found success in banger racing and stock racing and have the silverware to show for it.

As a family, they have travelled all over the country, racing in two to four events a month during the on-season and Atlanta said they occasionally race against each other.
The quartet of sisters, with Annalisha who always supports the team, love the sport and Atlanta’s husband, Reece, unsurprisingly gets involved on the weekends too, winning several trophies and loving a good crash.
It came as no shock that Atlanta’s son, Zach, also became obsessed with motorsport and it didn’t take long for him to get his own racing car.
He took to racing like it was natural and now practices his skills alongside the family, and his cousins, who have also been starting their motorsport careers.

When away from the track, Atlanta worked as a Front of House at a restaurant in her hometown, and she was often surprised to see how strangers react when she tells them her story.
She says that it’s easy to forget that not everyone is in the racing scene and for them, once you step into a car, it doesn’t matter about what gender you are, it’s all about the rush.
Racing alongside her entire family, Atlanta loves every single weekend where they’re all together, and is incredibly proud of her achievements, which were all in honour of her grandfather.
Team Amis have an impressive catalogue of trophies and honours, all of which were all won together, as one family, and for Atlanta, she would have it no other way.

Atlanta said: “Racing is a dangerous sport, especially in the contact formulas, but all racing there is an element of danger as that’s the reason we do it, for the adrenaline. We’re all adrenaline junkies really.
“My family have been really successful, my dad, I look at him as an utter legend, he knows his way around a track like the palm of his hand.
“To be honest, looking at the success me and my sisters have already had out on the track is all down to him!
“I’d like to think I’ve achieved everything I had dreamed of as a child, to be honest I never saw winning a race as the goal, just getting out there behind the wheel was my main goal enjoying every second, and to have trophies that I’ve won sitting on display in my living room is a huge achievement to me!”

She added: “My first ever race I won, and that was a huge accomplishment. I absolutely cried my eyes out when I got out of the car and was handed the trophy, especially because I am using my Grandad Henry Amis race number 686, so that was a huge honour.
“Usually during the ‘off season’ we do other projects, whether it’s project cars or building new race cars and most importantly celebrations throughout Christmas and new year’s.
“I love being with my family all the time. I see my family every single day and we are all very very close. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
“There are never any hard feelings, we come off and give each other a hug and say how much of a good race that was and celebrate whoever wins.

Atlanta explained: “I had my son in 2017, so I finally had my first opportunity to get out on the track in 2022, it was a race meeting that I had organised to raise money for a charity very close to my heart, Leeway Domestic Violence and Abuse Services.
“It was a banger race meeting just for ladies to participate in & my very first race I Won!
“That was an incredible feeling and I raised an incredible amount to give to the charity.
“We go racing a lot, most weekends march-November most months can be anywhere between 2-4 meetings a month.
“Over the winter period the main race season stops but the odd meeting can pop up.
“When you’re on the track racing you don’t care what gender you are or the others out there, you get the adrenaline rush and just focus on racing and finishing the race.”
