A determined mum has shared the incredible story of how her daughter survived a rare and often fatal heart condition.

Alena Kilyukh from Vancouver, Washington, watched helplessly as her baby girl, Estee, battled a congenital heart defect called ALCAPA—where the heart receives deoxygenated blood, threatening total heart failure.

After Estee’s heart was found to be functioning at just eight percent, she underwent emergency surgery and spent 68 harrowing days in hospital, fighting for her life.

Now six, she’s a thriving schoolgirl, and her mum is sharing their journey to offer hope to other families facing the impossible.
