Record rainfall hammered New Orleans, breaking a nearly 50-year-old record and triggering flash floods across Louisiana.
Some areas received up to 8 inches of rain as powerful storms, part of a larger weather system, swept in from Texas.
The storms caused widespread damage – downing trees, power lines, and prompting school closures – with over 3,000 still without power Thursday morning.
A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect as the region braces for more unsettled weather through the weekend.
