A woman has admitted she has a bizarre addiction to Pepsi Max where she consumes up to 20 cans daily.

The craving for the soft drink has lasted for the past six years with a can of Pepsi Max being one of the first things she turns towards in the morning.

However, Katie Brooks has admitted that due to the heavy amounts of caffeine in the drink, she feels constantly ‘down’ and has plans to reduce her intake of the drink.

The 21-year-old from Chorley, Lancashire, UK, said: “I have drunk 10-20 cans of Pepsi Max every single day for years and I think I’m finally ready to stop.

“I know this sounds like a joke but, this is genuinely going to be the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my whole life.

“I don’t know if just to reduce them or just fully stop. And you know it’s bad when you literally open them after breakfast.”

The long-term addiction that Katie has to the soft drink has meant she’s dealt with some adverse side effects because of the sheer volume she regularly consumes.

She revealed how she had doubts over what is causing her to feel down most of the time as well as not feeling healthy in herself – despite regularly working out in the gym.

However, Katie revealed that almost immediately when she comes home from the gym, she ‘needs a Pepsi’.

While when she’s at work she stomachs six cans of the drink during a six-hour shift.

Talking about her addiction, Katie told: “I’m trying to feel my best, and by feeling my best I feel like I need to reduce my Pepsi because I’ve been having between 10 to 20 cans a day for the past six years.
