An Australian woman has revealed her shock after discovering she has extra body parts including, two uteruses, four ovaries, and even an extra kidney following excruciating pain and years of medical confusion.

Mel Placanica, 31, from Adelaide, South Australia, had been suffering from severe stomach pain and heavy bleeding that baffled doctors. Initially fearing a tumour, she was left stunned when further tests revealed she had multiple extra reproductive organs.

Mel explained, “It was the worst pain of my life. Doctors thought it was a tumour, but after countless scans, they found out I had two uteruses, four ovaries, and two cervixes – basically two vaginas. I even have three kidneys!”

After years of uncertainty and a delayed diagnosis, Mel’s condition was finally identified during a laparoscopy. Doctors discovered she had a rare condition and removed one of her uteruses and two ovaries, while also addressing her double cervix. To add to her woes, they also found traces of endometriosis, which further contributed to her agonizing symptoms.

Endometriosis occurs when tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus, often causing pain and complications.

Mel, who also entered early menopause in her 30s, reflected on her ordeal, saying: “You can’t always trust a scan – if they’d caught it sooner, maybe I wouldn’t have gone through all this. I even wonder if I absorbed a twin, given all the extra organs I have.”

Despite her unusual diagnosis, Mel is now speaking out to raise awareness about complex reproductive conditions and the importance of second opinions when it comes to health.
