Scientists are developing an AI tool to translate animal sounds into human language, bringing us closer to understanding what our pets are really saying.

Chinese tech giant Baidu has filed a patent for a system that analyses not only vocalisations but also body language and behaviour to interpret emotional states.

The AI would then translate those feelings into human languages like Chinese or English, potentially enabling real-time communication with animals.

While still in the research phase, the concept has already sparked excitement – and skepticism – online.

Similar projects around the world are also using AI to decode animal communication, including pig grunts and whale clicks
