This woman discovered her great-grandmother’s first date dress and was amazed to find it fit her perfectly, 88 years later.
Shane Burleson, from Arlington, Texas, US, was sorting through her grandmother’s wardrobe a year after her passing when she stumbled upon a remarkable piece of family history.
Tucked away, was the very dress her great-grandmother wore on her first date with the man who would become her husband.

Shane’s mother, Kimberly Burleson, recalled the moment: “When Shane tried on the dress it was thrilling.
“It was like getting a glimpse of my grandmother at that same age.”
Great Grandparents, Katherine and Jack Lindsay were set up on a blind date on May 12, 1937.
After going on a double date with Jack’s cousin, the pair were spontaneously dared to get married that same night, and that was exactly what they did.

The couple were happily married for nearly 25 years, until Jack sadly passed away of a heart attack in his sleep.
A year after Shane’s grandmother passed, she and Kimberly were going through old clothes when they discovered the vintage heirloom.
Wanting to honour the love story behind it, the mother-daughter duo captured the special moment nearly nine decades after the dress was first worn.
The famous love story lived on throughout the family as many were inspired by their loving and spontaneous relationship.

Known for their unbreakable bond and love of dancing, Katherine and Jack’s romance continues to inspire generations of their family.
Kimberly explained: “You could see their love for each other every day.
“They had what everyone dreams of having in a marriage.
“I asked Shane to try it on just so I could see what it looked like and she wore it perfectly.
“It would’ve thrilled my grandmother to see her great granddaughter wearing it.
“Shane said that wearing it felt like a hug from the past.”
