An experienced free diver was faced with a huge shock when a normal swim turned into a full-blown rescue mission.
Kate Macleod, 28 of Isle of Lewis, Scotland, was out for a routine swim when she stumbled upon the distressed animals—quickly realising she was their only hope.
Known online as the ‘Hebridean Mermaid,’ Kate is no stranger to wild swimming—but nothing could have prepared her for this.
She said: “The tide was still going out, the only thing I could do was try and get them back to deeper water.
“I was swimming for my life trying to get them somewhere they would be safe.”
