This little girl is a real-life live wire and she is obsessed with electricity pylons!

Lucy Hardman regularly carried photos, drew pictures, and watched videos of the structures and was such a super fan that mum, Sophie Powers, and dad, Jamie, even got matching tattoos of pylons.

Lucy was even invited to take a tour of the National Grid, the home of the UK’s electricity supply.

Mum, Sophie, said: “I feel happy seeing her get comfort from something like an electric tower and nobody understands, but that’s what is so amazing. I love how it’s so unique.”

Lucy, from Blackpool, UK, became interested in pylons after seeing them on the motorway, and she liked to watch videos of slideshows showing them on YouTube.

There was a particular photo she would always pause the video on, and so Sophie and Jamie bought her a blanket with that exact picture printed on.

Sophie could not believe it when the National Grid, a multinational electricity and gas utility company, invited her and Lucy on a visit.

Electric towers are used to support the transmission of electricity all over the country, and according to the National Grid, there are more than 90,000 across Britain.

Sophie said: “Our trip to National Grid was amazing. It was a dream come true for Lucy to finally be able to stand under and cuddle an electric tower.

“I feel very grateful that National Grid did this trip for us.

“The man who led the trip, Wayne, was amazing with her as she was overwhelmed with all the people at first but was comfortable with him.

“They gave us lots of freebies which were so lovely.

“She takes the book of electric tower photos to bed with her, and she seems to love them even more than she did if that’s possible since the visit.”

Sophie explained how none of Lucy’s special interests were as extreme as her interest in electric towers.

She said: “We thought it was crazy at first that we were having to watch them on TV, and then we were just amazed and curious that they bring her such comfort.

“She fell in love with them from seeing them on the motorway.

“She won’t eat, sleep, go to the toilet or go to bed without this one picture she found on YouTube paused on TV.

“Whenever she’s upset or dealing with change, she asks for that electric tower to be put on and it gives her such comfort!”

Lucy’s parents decided to honour her interest and get a tattoo of pylons so they never forget her unique love for them.

She added: “People’s reactions to her online took me by surprise! The amount of love is insane.

“My inbox has been flooded with people asking me if they can make me things like personalised electric tower cups, keyrings, and bookmarks.

“It might not always be her special interest as I know they can change but she hasn’t seeked comfort from any of her other special interests, so maybe she will always love them.”
